Harrisburg, PA – PA State Representative Patty Kim recently announced that she would seek the Democratic nomination for the 15th State Senate district in the 2024 Election Cycle. However, Kim is already facing serious questions regarding her role in mishandled campaign funds with the House Democrats.
Just this morning, Broad and Liberty released a story highlighting that Rep. Kim was the Treasurer for the PA House Democrat Campaign Committee (PA HDCC) from 2016 to early 2023. In the article, it details that under Patty Kim’s leadership HDCC approved sixteen unaccounted reimbursements to the now-fired Trevor Southerland, with the largest being $39,216.08.
“Clearly Rep. Patty Kim played a role in this mismanagement,” PA SRCC Executive Director Cody Harbaugh began. “As a Treasurer she is responsible for managing the funds for the HDCC and keeping them compliant with state campaign finance law. Kim refusing to provide comment on her role in these secret reimbursements begs the question as to whether this lack of transparency was due to incompetence or misconduct.”
